Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2005 Christies in London held the auction Old Master Pictures & Drawings, which included the work A shepherd with cattle and dogs by ruins in an Italianate landscape by Philipp Peter Roos. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,400.00 (€ 12,192.13) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Philipp Peter Roos have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A bull, goat, ram and sheepdog before ruins in a rocky landscape; and A sheep and a goat, with a horseman beyond in a rocky landscape in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 49,250.00 (€ 60,738.93).
