In May 2010 Christies in London held the auction Photographs, which included the work Boy Breaking Piano in South Wales Village, 1961 by Philip Jones Griffiths. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,757.46), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Philip Jones Griffiths have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Scenes Of British Life, 1960S in October 2013 with an auction result of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 8,126.20).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2010 führte Christies in London die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Boy Breaking Piano in South Wales Village, 1961 von Philip Jones Griffiths zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.500,00 (€ 1.757,46) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Philip Jones Griffiths auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Scenes Of British Life, 1960S im Oktober 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.875,00 (€ 8.126,20).
