In the The Barratt Collection - from Crowe Hall, Bath auction, the work A mountainous river landscape in the Alps, with travellers on a path sold for GBP 39,650.00 (€ 45,993.88) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Philippe Jacques de Loutherbourg - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A wooded landscape with two monkeys eating grapes, which sold at auction in October 2014 for GBP 116,500.00 (€ 148,753.67).
