In September 2010 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Nineteen to Now,Art from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries including Indonesian Art and Topographical Observations, which included the work P. Portret No. 2 by Peter van Poppel. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 1,875.00 25% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Peter van Poppel - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Dutch Wijnie En Peter, which sold at auction in December 2008 for EUR 5,000.00.
