In April last year Bonhams in London held the auction The Marine Sale, which included the work The venerable HMS Eagle making ready to sail from her offshore anchorage, probably at the Nore by Peter Monamy. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 20,400.00 (€ 24,326.28), 36% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Peter Monamy have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The flagship Royal Sovereign saluting at the Nore in November 2010 with an auction result of GBP 109,250.00 (€ 130,553.58).

Im April letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion The Marine Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit The venerable HMS Eagle making ready to sail from her offshore anchorage, probably at the Nore von Peter Monamy zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 20.400,00 (€ 24.326,28) und damit 36% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Peter Monamy auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The flagship Royal Sovereign saluting at the Nore im November 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 109.250,00 (€ 130.553,58).
