Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Her Majesty’s new flagship Royal Sovereign at the Nore and saluting the arrival of Prince George of Denmark for his first visit to the fleet since being appointed Lord High Admiral, 4th June 1702 by Peter Monamy was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2018. It changed hands for a price of GBP 56,250.00 (€ 62,667.49) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Peter Monamy - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The flagship Royal Sovereign saluting at the Nore, which sold at auction in November 2010 for GBP 109,250.00 (€ 130,553.58).

Die Arbeit Her Majesty’s new flagship Royal Sovereign at the Nore and saluting the arrival of Prince George of Denmark for his first visit to the fleet since being appointed Lord High Admiral, 4th June 1702 von Peter Monamy kam im Dezember 2018 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 56.250,00 (€ 62.667,49) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 40.000,00 – 60.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Peter Monamy mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The flagship Royal Sovereign saluting at the Nore beobachtet, die im November 2010 für GBP 109.250,00 (€ 130.553,58) versteigert wurde.
