In May 2012 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work The flagship firing a salute as she leaves the anchorage, with a Royal Yacht making ready to depart by Peter Monamy. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 25,000.00 (€ 31,148.90), 39% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Peter Monamy have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The flagship Royal Sovereign saluting at the Nore in November 2010 with an auction result of GBP 109,250.00 (€ 130,553.58).

Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 25.000,00 (€ 31.148,90) und damit 39% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Peter Monamy auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The flagship Royal Sovereign saluting at the Nore im November 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 109.250,00 (€ 130.553,58).
