Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A two-decker announcing its departure from a fortified anchorage; and A Royal Navy two-decker saluting the departure of an Admiral (both illustrated) by Peter Monamy was sold in the Maritime Art auction at Christies in London in May 2012. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 28,034.01) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Peter Monamy have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The flagship Royal Sovereign saluting at the Nore in November 2010 with an auction result of GBP 109,250.00 (€ 130,553.58).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit A two-decker announcing its departure from a fortified anchorage; and A Royal Navy two-decker saluting the departure of an Admiral (both illustrated) von Peter Monamy wurde im Mai 2012 in der Auktion Maritime Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 22.500,00 (€ 28.034,01) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Peter Monamy auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The flagship Royal Sovereign saluting at the Nore im November 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 109.250,00 (€ 130.553,58).
