Auction result well in line with expectations
The work 'Gathering Water-Lilies' by Peter Henry Emerson was sold in the 50 Masterworks to Celebrate 50 Years of Sotheby’s Photographs auction at Sothebys in New York in April 2021. The price achieved of USD 11,340.00 (€ 9,426.43) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Peter Henry Emerson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Selected Images, which sold at auction in October 2017 for USD 30,000.00 (€ 25,755.49).
