This artwork by Paw Oo Thet achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Hong Kong in June last year. In the Southeast Asian Modern & Contemporary Art Online auction, the work Pagoda and Monks sold for HKD 35,700.00 (€ 4,344.43) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 20,000.00. Admittedly, works by Paw Oo Thet have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pagan in May last year with an auction result of HKD 318,000.00 (€ 37,753.42).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 79 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Paw Oo Thet erzielte im Juni letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Southeast Asian Modern & Contemporary Art Online wurde die Arbeit Pagoda and Monks für HKD 35.700,00 (€ 4.344,43) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 20.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Paw Oo Thet auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Pagan im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 318.000,00 (€ 37.753,42).
