The »bidding war« ended at EUR 8,925.00 49% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pavlos Mathiopoulos - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of Despina Trikoupi, which sold at auction in May 2007 for GBP 14,400.00 (€ 21,190.57).

Die Arbeit Rue d'Université, Athènes après la pluie von Pavlos Mathiopoulos wurde im November 2021 in der Auktion The Greek Sale bei Bonhams in Paris versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 8.925,00 und damit 49% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Pavlos Mathiopoulos mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait Of Despina Trikoupi beobachtet, die im Mai 2007 für GBP 14.400,00 (€ 21.190,57) versteigert wurde.
