In June 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Russian Paintings, which included the work The Painter by Pavel Dmitrievich Shmarov. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 20,000.00 (€ 25,280.67), 33% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pavel Dmitrievich Shmarov - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bather, 1928 , which sold at auction in June 2007 for GBP 40,800.00 (€ 60,545.15).

Im Juni 2008 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Russian Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Painter von Pavel Dmitrievich Shmarov zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 20.000,00 (€ 25.280,67) und damit 33% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Pavel Dmitrievich Shmarov mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Bather, 1928 beobachtet, die im Juni 2007 für GBP 40.800,00 (€ 60.545,15) versteigert wurde.
