The work Portrait of Willem Craeyvanger (1616-1659), half-length, in a black costume with a white collar and cuffs; and Portrait of Christine van de Wart, half-length, in a black dress with a white collar and cuffs, leaning with her right hand on a red uphols by Paulus Lesire was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in May 2009. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 43,000.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Portrait of Willem Craeyvanger (1616-1659), half-length, in a black costume with a white collar and cuffs; and Portrait of Christine van de Wart, half-length, in a black dress with a white collar and cuffs, leaning with her right hand on a red uphols is the most expensive artwork by Paulus Lesire that we have observed at auctions so far.
