In April 2007 Christies in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art & Orientalist Art, which included the work Outside the City Walls, Algiers by Paul Vernon. The auction ended at the price of USD 9,000.00 (€ 6,588.58), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of USD 7,000.00 – 9,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Outside the City Walls, Algiers is the most expensive artwork by Paul Vernon that we have observed at auctions so far.
