In March 2001 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings, which included the work Off the Scarborough coast by Paul Marny. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 493.50 (€ 796.31), 65% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Paul Marny - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mozes near Fontainebleau, which sold at auction in December 2001 for GBP 1,057.50 (€ 1,727.81).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 65 % übertroffen
Im März 2001 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Off the Scarborough coast von Paul Marny zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 493,50 (€ 796,31) und damit 65% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Paul Marny mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Mozes near Fontainebleau beobachtet, die im Dezember 2001 für GBP 1.057,50 (€ 1.727,81) versteigert wurde.
