Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Barges by a bridge in a continental town by Paul Marny was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 200.00 – 400.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 119.50 (€ 180.59). Admittedly, works by Paul Marny have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mozes near Fontainebleau in December 2001 with an auction result of GBP 1,057.50 (€ 1,727.81).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Barges by a bridge in a continental town von Paul Marny im Juli 2004 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 200,00 – 400,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 119,50 (€ 180,59) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Paul Marny auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Mozes near Fontainebleau im Dezember 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.057,50 (€ 1.727,81).
