Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2021 Bonhams in New York held the auction Fine Japanese and Korean Art, including the Crawford Collection of Surimono, which included the work Showa Era (1926-1989), 1940 by Paul Jacoulet. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of USD 892.50 (€ 770.93) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paul Jacoulet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Showa Era (1926-1989), Circa 1934 in March 2019 with an auction result of USD 31,325.00 (€ 27,899.00).
