In April 2019 Christies in New York held the auction European Art, which included the work Portrait of Joseph-Carle-Paul-Horace Delaroche, Son of the Artist, Half-Length with a Pile of Books by Paul Delaroche. The »bidding war« ended at USD 40,000.00 (€ 35,711.10), 33% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Paul Delaroche have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Napoleon at Fontainebleau, 31 March 1814 in December 2010 with an auction result of GBP 289,250.00 (€ 335,529.13).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 33 % übertroffen
Im April 2019 führte Christies in New York die Auktion European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Joseph-Carle-Paul-Horace Delaroche, Son of the Artist, Half-Length with a Pile of Books von Paul Delaroche zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 40.000,00 (€ 35.711,10) und damit 33% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Paul Delaroche auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Napoleon at Fontainebleau, 31 March 1814 im Dezember 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 289.250,00 (€ 335.529,13).
