The »bidding war« ended at USD 51,250.00 (€ 34,733.99), 28% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Paul Philippoteaux - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work In the Souk, which sold at auction in October 2006 for USD 132,000.00 (€ 103,342.99).
