Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Han il (Leisure time) by Park Sookeun was worth USD 1,127,500.00 (€ 1,034,403.67) to a buyer in March 2003. This price was achieved in the auction JAPANESE AND KOREAN ART at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 300,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Park Sookeun; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Tree and three figures, 1962 sold at auction in September 2012 with the realized price of USD 1,986,500.00 (€ 1,545,192.91).
