In March 2013 Christies in New York held the auction Japanese and Korean Art, which included the work Five seated figures by Park Sookeun. The »bidding war« ended at USD 711,750.00 (€ 555,360.49), 42% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Park Sookeun - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Tree and three figures, 1962, which sold at auction in September 2012 for USD 1,986,500.00 (€ 1,545,192.91).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 42 % übertroffen
Im März 2013 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Japanese and Korean Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Five seated figures von Park Sookeun zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 711.750,00 (€ 555.360,49) und damit 42% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Park Sookeun mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Tree and three figures, 1962 beobachtet, die im September 2012 für USD 1.986.500,00 (€ 1.545.192,91) versteigert wurde.
