Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Lilacs, roses, irises and other flowers on a stone ground with a glass vase and a peacock butterfly by Paolo Porpora was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2006. The price achieved of USD 72,000.00 (€ 56,368.90) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 60,000.00 – 100,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Paolo Porpora - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A forest floor with a porcupine, rabbit, ducks, tortoises and a snake, which sold at auction in January 2024 for USD 189,000.00 (€ 165,180.91).
