The work Concerned Citizen by Otis Kwame Kye Quaicoe was sold in the Modern & Contemporary African Art auction at Bonhams in London in March 2021. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 24,000.00 (€ 28,193.82), 60% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Otis Kwame Kye Quaicoe have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Shade of Black in July 2020 with an auction result of USD 250,000.00 (€ 212,332.26).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 60 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Concerned Citizen von Otis Kwame Kye Quaicoe wurde im März 2021 in der Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 24.000,00 (€ 28.193,82) und damit 60% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Otis Kwame Kye Quaicoe auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Shade of Black im Juli 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 250.000,00 (€ 212.332,26).
