Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2007 Christies in London held the auction Important Old Master & British Pictures Including works from the Collection of Anton Philips, which included the work The Madonna And Child by Orazio Gentileschi. The price achieved of GBP 2,036,500.00 (€ 2,767,258.06) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500,000.00 – 2,500,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Orazio Gentileschi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Danaë in January 2016 with an auction result of USD 30,490,000.00 (€ 28,148,079.76).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion Important Old Master & British Pictures Including works from the Collection of Anton Philips durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Madonna And Child von Orazio Gentileschi zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 2.036.500,00 (€ 2.767.258,06) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.500.000,00 – 2.500.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Orazio Gentileschi erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Danaë im Januar 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 30.490.000,00 (€ 28.148.079,76).
