Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Scottish Pictures, which included the work An Eastern Goddess by Olive Carleton Smyth. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,125.00 (€ 3,975.14) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Olive Carleton Smyth achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pytheas Buys Amber in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 62,900.00 (€ 80,011.55).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2008 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Scottish Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit An Eastern Goddess von Olive Carleton Smyth zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.125,00 (€ 3.975,14) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Olive Carleton Smyth erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Pytheas Buys Amber im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 62.900,00 (€ 80.011,55).
