The work Pytheas Buys Amber by Olive Carleton Smyth was sold in the British & Irish Art auction at Sothebys in London in November 2012. It achieved a price of GBP 43,250.00 (€ 53,279.61), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 73%. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Olive Carleton Smyth; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Pytheas Buys Amber sold at auction in May 2008 with the realized price of GBP 62,900.00 (€ 80,011.55).

Die Arbeit Pytheas Buys Amber von Olive Carleton Smyth wurde im November 2012 in der Auktion British & Irish Art bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 43.250,00 (€ 53.279,61) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 73%. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Olive Carleton Smyth; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Pytheas Buys Amber im Mai 2008 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 62.900,00 (€ 80.011,55).
