Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Librium by Olav Westphalen was auctioned at Phillips in Online Auction in June 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 250.00 (€ 222.60). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Olav Westphalen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work "Cartier" in May 2012 with an auction result of SEK 62,000.00 (€ 6,549.01).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Librium von Olav Westphalen im Juni 2020 bei Phillips in Online Auction versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 250,00 (€ 222,60) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Olav Westphalen erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit "Cartier" im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von SEK 62.000,00 (€ 6.549,01).
