Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2009 Sothebys in London held the auction 19th Century European Paintings including Spanish Painting, The Orientalist Sale, and German, Austrian, Scandinavian and Symbolist Works, which included the work Norwegian Lunatics by Odd Nerdrum. The price achieved of GBP 97,250.00 (€ 106,427.59) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Odd Nerdrum - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Dawn, which sold at auction in November 2016 for GBP 341,000.00 (€ 402,346.47).
