Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2009 Christies in London held the auction Centuries of Style: Silver, European Ceramics, Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes, which included the work Unknown by Nicolas François Dun. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,556.71). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Nicolas François Dun - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A young lady, wearing silver tasselled bright blue scarf in her brown curling hair, facing right in white dress, cameo brooch pinned at corsage, red and blue bordered white stole draped around her shoulders, which sold at auction in November 2001 for GBP 8,812.50 (€ 14,023.46).
