This price was achieved in the auction Old Master and British Works on Paper, including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 1,800.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Nicolas François Dun - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A young lady, wearing silver tasselled bright blue scarf in her brown curling hair, facing right in white dress, cameo brooch pinned at corsage, red and blue bordered white stole draped around her shoulders, which sold at auction in November 2001 for GBP 8,812.50 (€ 14,023.46).
