Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2000 Christies in London held the auction IMPORTANT PORTRAIT MINIATURES, GOLD BOXES & OBJECTS OF VERTU, which included the work A young lady, facing right in lace-bordered low-cut white dress, lace-bordered pink and white striped surcoat with pink ribbons, pink and white roses and white plumes in her upswept powdered hair by Nicolas Claude Vassal. The price achieved of GBP 587.50 (€ 960.25) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 500.00 – 700.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Nicolas Claude Vassal - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of a gentleman, perhaps the architect Jacques Gondouin (1737-1818), which sold at auction in December 2020 for GBP 1,890.00 (€ 2,111.30).

Im November 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion IMPORTANT PORTRAIT MINIATURES, GOLD BOXES & OBJECTS OF VERTU durch, in der auch die Arbeit A young lady, facing right in lace-bordered low-cut white dress, lace-bordered pink and white striped surcoat with pink ribbons, pink and white roses and white plumes in her upswept powdered hair von Nicolas Claude Vassal zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 587,50 (€ 960,25) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 500,00 – 700,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Nicolas Claude Vassal mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman, perhaps the architect Jacques Gondouin (1737-1818) beobachtet, die im Dezember 2020 für GBP 1.890,00 (€ 2.111,30) versteigert wurde.
