In October 2006 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction 19th Century European Art, which included the work The artist's visit by Nicolaas van der Waay. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 4,200.00 40% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Nicolaas van der Waay have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Een werkstaking: Strike of the Ballerinas in May 2010 with an auction result of EUR 40,600.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 40 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2006 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion 19th Century European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The artist's visit von Nicolaas van der Waay zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 4.200,00 und damit 40% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Nicolaas van der Waay auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Een werkstaking: Strike of the Ballerinas im Mai 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 40.600,00.
