Upper estimated price slightly exceeded

Here, the upper estimate of EUR 6,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for EUR 6,875.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Nicolaas Riegen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A calm: fishermen inspecting their catch, which sold at auction in April 2003 for EUR 17,925.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit A two-master caught in stormy weather von Nicolaas Riegen wurde im Oktober 2009 in der Auktion Old Master and 19th Century Art bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von EUR 6.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für EUR 6.875,00 einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Nicolaas Riegen mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A calm: fishermen inspecting their catch beobachtet, die im April 2003 für EUR 17.925,00 versteigert wurde.
