Auction result misses estimated price range
In September 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work An Autumnal afternoon along the river Vecht by Nicolaas Bastert for EUR 1,375.00. This price was achieved in the auction Pictures, Watercolours and Drawings 'Including Indonesian Art'. at Christies in Amsterdam and was even below the estimate range of EUR 1,500.00 – 2,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nicolaas Bastert achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The river Vecht in Autumn in October 2006 with an auction result of EUR 19,200.00.
