Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Octave of Prayer No. 2 and The Octave of Prayer No. 1, 1970 by Nicholas Callaway was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 125.00 (€ 87.91). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nicholas Callaway achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Landscapes, 1975 in November 2008 with an auction result of EUR 1,250.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Octave of Prayer No. 2 and The Octave of Prayer No. 1, 1970 von Nicholas Callaway im September 2007 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 125,00 (€ 87,91) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Nicholas Callaway erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Landscapes, 1975 im November 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 1.250,00.
