Artwork auctioned at ten times the upper estimate price
When the work Calligraphy in Running Style by Ni Yuanlu was auctioned at Bonhams in Sydney in August this year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - AUD 8,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than ten times as high at AUD 86,100.00 (€ 51,378.80). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ni Yuanlu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Poems In Cursive Script in September 2014 with an auction result of USD 1,325,000.00 (€ 1,049,255.62).
Kunstwerk zum Zehnfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Calligraphy in Running Style von Ni Yuanlu im August diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Sydney versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – AUD 8.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit AUD 86.100,00 (€ 51.378,80) mehr als zehnmal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ni Yuanlu erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Poems In Cursive Script im September 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.325.000,00 (€ 1.049.255,62).
