Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2018 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Asian 20th Century & Contemporary Art (Evening Sale) / Contemporaries: Voices from East and West (Evening Sale), which included the work Vietnamese Ladies by Nguyễn Gia Trí. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 800,000.00 – 1,200,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 875,000.00 (€ 95,597.69) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Nguyễn Gia Trí have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Provincial Village in October 2017 with an auction result of HKD 5,140,000.00 (€ 565,717.72).
