Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Nostalgie du Haut Tonkin (Nostalgia for Highland Tonkin) by Nguyễn Gia Trí was sold in the Contemporaries: Voices from East and West / Asian 20th Century & Contemporary Art (Evening Sale) auction at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2017. The price achieved of HKD 1,375,000.00 (€ 157,006.50) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 1,200,000.00 – 1,800,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Nguyễn Gia Trí - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Provincial Village , which sold at auction in October 2017 for HKD 5,140,000.00 (€ 565,717.72).
