Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Typewriter by Neil Shawcross was auctioned at Sothebys in London in October 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 5,760.00 (€ 8,605.95). Other works by Neil Shawcross have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in October 2006 by the work Red Figure at GBP 10,200.00 (€ 15,239.71).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Typewriter von Neil Shawcross im Oktober 2006 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 5.760,00 (€ 8.605,95) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Neil Shawcross wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Oktober 2006 die Arbeit Red Figure mit GBP 10.200,00 (€ 15.239,71).
