This artwork by Neil Libbert achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in March 2018. In the Made in Britain auction, the work Francis Bacon, Tate Gallery, May 1985 sold for GBP 2,125.00 (€ 2,419.43) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Neil Libbert - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Francis Bacon, On His 80Th Birthday, 1989, which sold at auction in March 2015 for GBP 4,750.00 (€ 6,567.13).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 77 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Neil Libbert erzielte im März 2018 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Made in Britain wurde die Arbeit Francis Bacon, Tate Gallery, May 1985 für GBP 2.125,00 (€ 2.419,43) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.200,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Neil Libbert mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Francis Bacon, On His 80Th Birthday, 1989 beobachtet, die im März 2015 für GBP 4.750,00 (€ 6.567,13) versteigert wurde.
