Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2002 a collector was able to acquire the work A Whittmore Yacht of Winthrop, Mass. probably off Marblehead by Nathaniel Livermore Stebbins for USD 1,135.25 (€ 1,158.89). This price was achieved in the auction Maritime at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00 set by the auction house. Other works by Nathaniel Livermore Stebbins have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in July 2002 by the work A Whittmore yacht at USD 2,031.50 (€ 2,073.81).
