In March last year Christies in New York held the auction Japanese and Korean Art Including the Collection of David and Nayda Utterberg, which included the work Three Wise Monkeys by Nakamura Hochu. The »bidding war« ended at USD 5,670.00 (€ 5,111.33), 42% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Nakamura Hochu - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Cranes and sunrise, which sold at auction in October 2001 for USD 9,987.50 (€ 11,105.86).
