Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Bird Seeking to Nest by Morris Cole Graves was sold in the American Art auction at Christies in New York in October 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 16,250.00 (€ 13,952.09) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Morris Cole Graves achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shore Birds in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 408,500.00 (€ 350,042.84).

Die Arbeit Bird Seeking to Nest von Morris Cole Graves wurde im Oktober 2020 in der Auktion American Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 16.250,00 (€ 13.952,09) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Morris Cole Graves erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Shore Birds im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 408.500,00 (€ 350.042,84).
