Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Watching TV from across the street by Misheck Masamvu was auctioned at Christies in London in October last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 5,500.00 (€ 6,407.44). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Misheck Masamvu - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Natural Selection, 2017, which sold at auction in June 2021 for EUR 24,390.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Watching TV from across the street von Misheck Masamvu im Oktober letzten Jahres bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 5.500,00 (€ 6.407,44) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Misheck Masamvu mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Natural Selection, 2017 beobachtet, die im Juni 2021 für EUR 24.390,00 versteigert wurde.
