Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Water Caltrop by Ming Fay was sold in the 20th Century Chinese Art auction at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2012. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 40,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 50,000.00 (€ 4,977.62) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ming Fay - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Cherries, which sold at auction in April 2014 for HKD 187,500.00 (€ 17,438.72).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Water Caltrop von Ming Fay wurde im Oktober 2012 in der Auktion 20th Century Chinese Art bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 40.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von HKD 50.000,00 (€ 4.977,62) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Ming Fay mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Cherries beobachtet, die im April 2014 für HKD 187.500,00 (€ 17.438,72) versteigert wurde.
