The work A Female Saint by Michele di Matteo da Bologna was sold in the Master Paintings auction at Sothebys in New York in October 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 44,100.00 (€ 37,863.83) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, A Female Saint is the most expensive artwork by Michele di Matteo da Bologna that we have observed at auctions so far.
