Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In August 2001 Christies in Sydney held the auction AUSTRALIAN AND INTERNATIONAL PAINTINGS, which included the work Kununurra Smoke by Michael Johnson. Here, the upper estimate of AUD 25,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for AUD 25,850.00 (€ 15,006.65). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Michael Johnson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Australian Yellow Ochre, which sold at auction in November 2007 for AUD 66,000.00 (€ 39,758.17).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im August 2001 führte Christies in Sydney die Auktion AUSTRALIAN AND INTERNATIONAL PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Kununurra Smoke von Michael Johnson zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von AUD 25.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für AUD 25.850,00 (€ 15.006,65) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Michael Johnson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Australian Yellow Ochre beobachtet, die im November 2007 für AUD 66.000,00 (€ 39.758,17) versteigert wurde.
