This price was achieved in the auction Modern British & Irish Art at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Michael Clark - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of Francis Bacon, which sold at auction in February 2006 for GBP 50,400.00 (€ 74,127.09).
