Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Sunset I by Mercedes Lasarte was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,063.00 (€ 2,924.28). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mercedes Lasarte - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Green, which sold at auction in February 2009 for USD 7,500.00 (€ 5,923.23).
