Auction result misses estimated price range

In the The National Geographic Collection: The Art of Exploration auction, the work Self-Portrait in a Cutout Window Silhouette, Paris, May, c. 1936 changed hands for USD 1,875.00 (€ 1,421.96) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Other works by Maynard Owen Williams have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in December 2012 by the work Citroen-Haardt Trans-Asiatic Expedition, Herat, Afghanistan, May 21, 1931 at USD 2,750.00 (€ 2,085.55).
